Tom Umbel
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Umbel is Chief Executive Officer of Seno Medical Instruments, Inc. Tom Umbel brings more than 30 years of medical device and diagnostics leadership experience to Seno Medical. He has lead several start-up companies, including one through a successful acquisition. He has also managed large organizations through significant growth leading both the strategic development and M&A efforts in his previous roles.
Tom was most recently the VP of Business Development for Bioventus, a privately held ortho-biologics company in Durham, NC. Tom has led the Business Development efforts at both Bioventus and Hologic, the largest dedicated Women’s Health company in the U.S. Tom’s role in managing mergers and acquisitions helped to grow Hologic from a small single-product company with $100 million in revenue to a large diversified company with more than $2.5 billion in sales in his 15 years with the company.
Prior to Hologic, Tom was the President of Direct Radiography Corp. (DRC). He led the development and commercialization of the digital x-ray detector technology, which he ultimately sold to Hologic in 1999. This company’s technology became the core to Hologic’s market leading digital mammography system and was the engine to Hologic’s significant growth.
Prior to DRC, Tom worked at Sterling Diagnostic Imaging for 3 years and DuPont for 20 years. At those two companies, Tom held senior management positions in operations, engineering, sales and marketing.
Tom has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Grove City College.
Thomas Stavros
MD, FACR, FSRU, FRANZCR
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Stavros joined the company as Chief Medical Officer in mid-2012. Dr. Stavros is a women‘s imaging radiologist with more than 30 years of breast imaging experience. Dr. Stavros has been involved in mammography since 1976 and has been actively involved in the development of high-frequency hand-held breast ultrasound since 1981. Dr. Stavros’s main interests are general ultrasound, breast imaging and intervention, and ultrasound guided FNA and/or core biopsy in the thyroid and head and neck.
Dr. Stavros is a reviewer for several medical journals. He has written or co-authored numerous articles including the definitive textbook for reference and learning in the specialty, Breast Ultrasound. Dr. Stavros is recognized as a leader in the field of breast ultrasound and speaks globally on this topic having presented more than 2,000 invited lectures and abstracts.
Dr. Stavros is a fellow of the American College of Radiology, a fellow of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, an honorary fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology, where he was the Traveling Baker Professor in 1999, and is Professor Specialist at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has served on numerous panels and companies as a medical advisor and is an investor in many companies.
Alex Hamlow
Chief Revenue Officer
Alex Hamlow joined the company in August 2023 as Chief Revenue Officer of Seno Medical Instruments, Inc. Alex brings 20+ years of experience in B2B Healthcare developing and implementing customer-centric vision, strategy, processes, and systems to deliver commercial growth.
Prior to joining the Seno team, Alex served as President of A Hamlow Servant Leadership (AHSL), Inc, an advisory consultancy and new venture incubator working with B2B Healthcare leaders from early-stage startups to fortune 100 companies on commercial planning and implementing strategies for growth specializing in commercial transformation, go-to-market, product-market-fit, strategic account management, and new market acquisition.
Before launching his consultant firm, Alex served as Chief Commercial Officer at Kheiron Medical Technologies Limited, a series-A startup focused on AI Breast cancer detection SaaS software. He built the commercial program end to end, launched the first platform of products, and closed the first $20M in deals beginning the scaling of the business globally.
Alex also held several growth focused roles of increasing responsibility spanning over 20 years at GE Healthcare including Global Commercial Leader - Strategic Account Development, Executive Director IDN Growth, Americas, & Executive Director, National and Corporate Accounts. Alex also serves on the board of a Healthcare foundation in honor of his late wife supporting education and care pathway guidance for women diagnosed with cancer who also suffer from underlying autoimmune disorders.
Alex holds a BS in Electronic Engineering from DeVry University.
Tammy Garcia
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Tammy Garcia joined the company as SVP, Sales and Marketing late summer of 2016. She previously served as the General Manager, Breast Imaging for GE Healthcare. Tammy brings over 25 years of commercial sales and marketing leadership experience in medical device and diagnostic imaging with a significant part of her career and passion focused on women’s health and improving cancer detection.
During her 13-year tenure at GE Healthcare, Tammy held several leadership roles where she established commercial teams focused on double digit growth in Orthopedics and Breast Imaging. Additionally, Tammy led the sales and marketing efforts in the launches of disruptive technologies with InSightec, an MRI guided focused ultrasound non-invasive surgical therapy, and MAKO Surgical, an orthopedic robotic device and implant company. Early in her career, she held sales and service leadership roles at Sterling Diagnostic Imaging and DuPont.
Tammy has an MBA from University of Phoenix, Phoenix, AZ and BS in Management from Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin. She currently is the President of the Board of Susan G. Komen Wisconsin Affiliate.
